GEH-C, Candu to explore fuel cycle technology through Canada-UK agreement

IAEA concludes Nigerian infrastructure review ahead of nuclear program

A team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has finished a two-week mission to review infrastructure development in Nigeria for its fledgling nuclear power program, the IAEA said on Monday. At the end of the evaluation late last week, the team said the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) and the Nigerian government as a whole are making significant progress in developing the infrastructure needed for a nuclear energy program. Westinghouse part of effort to help secure nuclear fuel for Russian reactors

Nine European partners in an investment group headed by Westinghouse Electric Co. said on Monday that they have received approximately $2.24 million from the European Union (EU) to establish a secure supply of nuclear fuel for Russian-designed reactors. Completion of ETN reactor in Brazil delayed amid financial woes

AREVA said on Monday that it has temporarily slowed construction of Brazil's Eletrobrás Eletronuclear’s (ETN) Angra 3 nuclear power plant reactor in Rio de Janeiro due to difficulties in securing financing to complete the project.AREVA signed a contract worth approximately $1.4 billion, under which the company agreed to supply engineering services and components, and the reactor’s instrumentation and control system. NRC names new resident inspector for Pennsylvania nuclear plant

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said on Tuesday that it has named Matthew Fannon as the new resident inspector for the nuclear power plant in Limerick, Pennsylvania.Fannon holds a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee. Prior to being selected as a resident inspector, Fannon served as a reactor engineer in the Region I Division of Reactor Projects and previously served in the U.S. Navy's nuclear propulsion program. NRC names new deputy regional construction chief in Atlanta office

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said on Tuesday that Laura Dudes has been named the new deputy regional administrator of construction for the Region II office in Atlanta. In this position, she will oversee NRC inspection and licensed construction-site activity on a national scale. Dudes holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. Read More »
