Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) recently made two appointments to an executive management team in a joint venture as part of the companies' agreement to change its leadership every four years.
MHI and Vestas have tapped wind sector industry veterans Philippe Kavafyan as CEO and Lars Bondo Krogsgaard as Co-CEO of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, according to a press release.
"Both Philippe Kavafyan and Lars Bondo Krogsgaard possess deep knowledge of the industry and major markets, and MHI and Vestas strongly believe that their combined expertise and leadership within the wind industry is precisely what the joint venture requires to be successful in the future," Anders Runevad, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind Board's chair, said in the release.
According to the companies, other executive management changes include Vestas' appointment of its current president and CEO, Runevad, as board chair and MHI's appointment of Michisuke Nayama, its executive vice president and chief technology officer, as deputy board chair.
In addition, Jens Tommerup, MHI Vestas' Offshore Wind CEO, and Co-CEO Tetsushi Mizuno have announced they are leaving the company.
"They leave behind a company that is a strong player in the offshore wind market, with a robust brand and a solid order book," Nayama said the release.
