U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION: NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Jacquelyn Wojewoda as the new resident inspector at the Davis-Besse nuclear power plant, located in Oak Harbor, Ohio, about 21 miles east of Toledo. Davis-Besse is operated by FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co.

“As the agency’s eyes and ears on the ground, Jacquelyn Wojewoda is an experienced inspector committed to the NRC’s mission. Her field experience, training and education will help her inspect the plant’s day-to-day activities and ensure the agency’s strict safety requirements are met,” said NRC Region III Administrator Steven West.

Wojewoda joined the NRC in 2014 as part of the Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program in Region III. She has supported several sites by assisting the resident inspectors and has completed rotational assignments at the Dresden, Clinton, LaSalle and Davis-Besse nuclear plants.

She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan. Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Wojewoda joins NRC senior resident inspector Daniel Mills at the Davis-Besse facility.

The NRC resident inspectors at Davis-Besse can be reached at 419-244-4494.
