The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will hold an open house today to discuss last year's performance of the Turkey Point nuclear plant near Homestead, Florida.
The event will be held 6-8 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott, located on NE Ninth Street in Homestead.
The NRC said the plant operated safely over the course of 2015 and will continue to be under regular levels of regulatory oversight.
“We invite the public to visit with us and find out what we’re doing to ensure Turkey Point and other nuclear plants are operated safely,” NRC Region II Administrator Cathy Haney said. “These annual meetings offer an opportunity for everyone, and especially people who live near the plant, to learn about our inspection and oversight programs.”
