Westinghouse Electric Co. announced this week that it was selected by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to provide inspection and maintenance for four nuclear reactors.
Under this contract, the company is to perform maintenance and inspections for steam generators currently operating at the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant and the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Both plants house two nuclear pressurized water reactors.
“Outage management products and services, including our Zephyr Advanced Acquisition System to be used in this TVA contract, are important parts of the Westinghouse portfolio of services that support the long-term operation of nuclear power plants,” David Howell, Westinghouse SVP, Operating Plant Business, said.
Westinghouse recently acquired a refueling and inspection contract from the TVA for these same nuclear facilities. The company states that its services will be able to ensure the dependability and safe operation of both facilities.
“We are pleased to provide Watts Bar Units 1 and 2 and Sequoyah Units 1 and 2 with outage services that have potential for significant cost savings and further enhanced safety during outages so that they may continue to provide safe, clean, reliable and economic energy to the people of the Tennessee Valley,” Mark Marano, Westinghouse president of the Americas Region, said.
