Marty Richey will be overseeing operations at the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, as its new site vice president, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) said this week.
Richey has worked within the nuclear-generation industry for 27 years, previously serving as plant manager at Entergy Corp.’s Waterford Nuclear Generating Station in Killona, Louisiana and also working at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in Vernon, Vermont, and Grand Gulf Nuclear Generation Station near Port Gibson, Mississippi.
"Marty brings to Beaver Valley a diverse background in all aspects of nuclear power operations, particularly outage and work management and performance improvement," FENOC Chief Nuclear Officer Sam Belcher said. "His leadership and experience in the industry will benefit Beaver Valley as the site continues (its) safe operation and pursuit of industry-leading operating performance."
Richey also has served in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power Program, working as an engineering laboratory technician and a mechanical operator. Richey's experience also includes work in maintenance, radiation-protection management of power outages and overall performance-improvement operations. Richey earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University in Michigan.
Richey replaces Eric Larson, who has been selected to represent FENOC at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations in Atlanta as a loaned executive.
Richey earned his bachelor's in science from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan.
