KIC issues annual call for sustainable-energy innovation proposals

KIC InnoEnergy launched its annual Call for Innovation Proposals this week in its ongoing effort to nurture innovations in sustainable energy.

The company, based in Budapest, Hungary, will host an information webinar relating to the program on Friday, Jan. 29, to discuss the application process. The webinar will begin at 1 p.m. EST.

Proposals will be accepted by KIC through Monday, April 4.

“KIC InnoEnergy’s Call for Innovation Proposals helps address the challenges that many innovators face in bringing their concepts to market and to shorten the journey from lab to launch,” KIC CEO Diego Pavia said. “Crucially, we provide the investment, as well as partnerships and commercial skills, that are so often lacking and without which many concepts would never make it off the drawing board. Our job is to help develop innovative products, services and solutions that have high commercial potential; by doing this, we are expanding the circle of innovation in Europe’s energy sector.”

Areas of interest listed in the launch announcement include renewable energy, chemical fuels, clean coal and natural gas technologies, energy efficiency, smart-grid technology, and the convergence of nuclear and renewable-energy technology.

“Technical expertise, commercial awareness, and access to a variety of skills and resources are critical in order to turn a concept into reality,” Pavia said.
