Registration opens for NRC's annual Regulatory Information Conference

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said recently that registration is open for the NRC’s annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) March 8-10  at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel, 5701 Marinelli Road, in Bethesda, Maryland.

The conference is organized jointly by the NRC’s Nuclear Regulatory Research and Nuclear Reactor Regulation units. The NRC said it anticipates approximately 3,000 attendees, including industry leaders, community members, state government officials and international representatives.

The conference will focus on two areas. The first is titled “Project Aim: Accomplishments and Next Steps,” and the second focuses on the past 25 years of regulatory activity and details accomplishments that the NRC has achieved over that period of time.

NRC Chairman Stephen Burns will serve as the conference’s keynote speaker. Other featured speakers will include Commissioners William Ostendorff, Kristine Svinicki and Jeff Baran. Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Director Bill Dean will provide opening welcome remarks, and NRC Executive Director of Operations Victor McCree is also expected to speak.

The conference will include technical sessions on cybersecurity, emerging nuclear technology such as advanced and small modular reactors, spent-fuel research and subsequent license renewal.

Online registration is open at the NRC website until Tuesday, Feb. 23. The conference is open to the public, but registration is required.
