AREVA TN said recently that it has entered into a strategic partnership with China's Shanghai Apollo Machinery Co. Ltd.
A major focus of the partnership will be the joint development of spent-fuel storage casks.
“This agreement is a major step forward in the development of solid supply chain in China to support the continued local development of the Chinese nuclear fuel cycle industry,” Benoît Fichefeux, executive vice president of AREVA TN, said. “Our relationship with Apollo will ensure that we can support our Chinese customers with competitive, quality products that are delivered on-time.”
AREVA TN said that with this partnership agreement in place, an important step was completed in developing a strategy to localize AREVA's foothold in the Chinese market. The company also said the Shanghai Nuclear Power Office supports the partnership.
AREVA specializes in multiple aspects of the international nuclear power industry, including reactor and component design and manufacturing, decommissioning services and site management.
