The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said this week that it will hold a public meeting on Thursday, Jan. 7, regarding reactor-safety issues tied to the Fukushima plant accident in 2011 in Japan.
This meeting will take place 1-4:30 p.m. EST at the NRC's White Flint complex, 11555 Rockville Pike, in Rockville, Maryland, in Room O9B4. This discussion also will be available via teleconference and as a webinar. Interested individuals can contact the NRC's William Reckley (william.reckley@nrc.gov) or Joseph Sebrosky (joseph.sebrosky@nrc.gov) for call-in and webinar information.
The meeting will be open to the public and questions and comments will be heard during the meeting.
The discussion will focus on long-term NRC efforts to address concerns raised in the wake of the Fukushima disaster, including recommendations regarding hydrogen control, containment designs, and industry enhancements in reactor-monitoring devices and equipment.
