Duke Energy CEO to lead board of directors as of Jan. 1

Duke Energy said late last week that President, Vice Chairman and CEO Lynn Good has been selected to serve as the director’s board chairwoman.

Good's role as chairwoman begins effective Jan. 1, 2016. Good takes the place of Ann Gray, who had served in a leadership position for the board since 2004, first as lead independent director, then as its chairwoman. Gray will continue to serve the board as a director.

"I am honored to be named chairman of Duke Energy's board and privileged to lead our company forward for our customers, employees and shareholders," Good said. "I want to thank Ann for her guidance and extraordinary leadership as our chairman, and I look forward to her continued contributions to our success."

Alongside Good, Michael Browning has been selected to serve as  independent lead director for the board. Browning also serves as  chairman of Browning Consolidated LLC and is a former president of the company. Browning has served as a director for Duke Energy since 2006.

The company also has announced that Piedmont Natural Gas President, Chairman and CEO Tom Skains has been appointed to the Duke Energy board following the company’s acquisition of Piedmont.
