The Subcommittee on Energy and Power will hear testimony on Tuesday from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) commissioners on several issues, including electrical-grid security and reliability, the natural-gas pipeline permit process and the EPA's new cap-and-trade rules. FERC regulates the transmission, reliability and sale of electricity in interstate commerce.
On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will hold a hearing to examine management of the Nuclear Waste Fund and how historical changes to the budget process have affected the fund and the handling of nuclear waste in general. The subcommittee also will look at ways to improve the life-cycle funding of the used-fuel management system.
