Exelon Corp. has announced the appointment of Ted Stoner as the Clinton Power Station’s site vice president and Brad Kapellas as its plant manager, the company said Monday.
Stoner has served approximately 20 years as a member of the Clinton staff, most recently as its plant manager. He began his career as a union maintenance technician.
“I look forward to ensuring that Clinton continues to be a strong economic engine for the community, while remaining one of the highest performing plants in our industry,” Stoner said. “I also intend to keep building relationships with our neighbors and local officials in DeWitt County.”
As the site’s vice president, Stoner will oversee operations of the plant to make sure that it is meeting safety and reliability standards. He will also be tasked with distributing public information. He takes the place of Marc Newcomer who has been appointed to serve as the Mid-Atlantic operations for Exelon.
Kapellas has been appointed to take the spot vacated by Stoner; he will be tasked with managing daily operations including radiation and environmental protection, maintenance and other duties. He has approximately 25 years of working experience in the nuclear energy industry.
The Clinton Power Station is located six miles outside of Clinton, Illinois, and is capable of producing approximately 1,078 megawatts of electricity.
