The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has appointed Christopher Schwarz to serve as the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant’s vice president, the group announced on Monday.
Swartz currently serves as the vice president of corporate operations at the Public Service Enterprise Group Nuclear.
According to the announcement, he has 41 years of working experience within the Nuclear Industry and has previously served as site vice president for the Palisades Nuclear Station and the Arkansas Nuclear One Station and as the vice president of operations support for Entergy Corp. nuclear sites in the northeastern U.S. He has also served as the site director for the Millstone nuclear plant owned by Dominion.
“John has been a respected leader in TVA Nuclear and had a strong impact on the improved performance seen at Sequoyah during his tenure,” Joe Grimes, TVA chief nuclear officer, said. “We are fortunate to find another exceptional leader in Chris, who can step in to continue Sequoyah’s focus on achieving and sustaining top industry performance.”
Schwarz served in the U.S. Navy and holds an engineering degree from Widener University.
The TVA said that Schwarz will begin his role at the Sequoyah site on Nov. 16. The site’s current vice president, John Carlin, announced that he will be retiring at the end of this year.
