The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (NAMRC) of the U.K. announced on Thursday
the appointment of Andrew Storer as its managing director.
His appointment will begin Oct. 12. Currently, Storer serves as a program director for Rolls-Royce’s civil nuclear business, and leads supply chain development initiatives with the Nuclear Industry Council.
“I am delighted to be joining the Nuclear AMRC at such an exciting time for the U.K. nuclear industry,” Storer said. “The opportunities that lie ahead for the U.K. supply chain are varied and vast. The Nuclear AMRC has a key role to play in ensuring that companies are able to step up to the challenge, to secure a profitable and sustainable future in the U.K., while establishing a robust export growth opportunity.”
According to the announcement, Storer’s appointment comes at a time when the NAMRC will be focusing its supportive efforts toward increasing supply chain competitiveness in the U.K. His appointment will also allow current NAMRC Chief Executive Officer Mike Tynan to focus on the organization's strategic issues that include enhancing support for manufacturing clusters near new build sites and their role in supporting the development of small modular reactors.
“Andy Storer brings unique experience to lead efforts at Nuclear AMRC to assist U.K. suppliers and developers,” Tynan said. “Andy is an established nuclear industry professional with an excellent track record in the complex environment of nuclear supplier development, government support and industrial application. He will be a valuable asset to the Nuclear AMRC and will further strengthen our ability to support U.K. industry.”
