The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced on Wednesday that they will be holding a joint meeting on Oct. 21.

During this meeting, the two regulatory bodies and representatives from the North American Reliability Corp. (NARC) will be discussing matters involving grid reliability, new nuclear power plants, decommissioning, cybersecurity and electricity markets.

This meeting will be taking place at the FERC’s headquarters located on First Street in Washington, D.C., and is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET. The portion of this meeting that is open to the public is expected to run up until 11:30 a.m. Following this, NRC, FERC and NARC representatives will be meeting in private.

Those that intend to attend this meeting in person are encouraged by the FERC to register before hand, they do note that this is not a requirement to attend the meeting. Those attending the meeting are asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes in advance to the meeting’s start time. A webcast of the public portion of this meeting will be available through the FERC website.

The NRC oversees all civil research and commercial applications of nuclear material in the U.S.
