The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced Wednesday that Jeromy Petch will serve as a resident inspector at the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
Petch has worked with the NRC since 2013. He joined the commission as a project engineer and has since completed the NRC's required inspector qualification program.
“Jeromy Petch’s experience, training and commitment to safety will help the NRC in its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of Ginna,” NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman said.
Prior to his work with the NRC, Petch worked as a nuclear fluid engineer for nuclear powered naval vessels for Norfolk Naval Shipyards. He earned two bachelor's degrees in mechanical and nuclear engineering from Penn State University.
The Ginna Power Plant in Ontario, New York, is operated by Exelon Corp.
Petch will serve under Ginna's Senior Resident Inspector Neil Perry.
The NRC assigns a minimum of two resident inspectors to all nuclear power plants operating in the U.S. Resident inspectors serve as a liaison between the NRC and the facilities and are tasked with inspection duties, interacting with plant staff and management, interacting with the public through public meetings, and monitoring projects at their assigned site.
