AREVA said on Monday that it has been awarded a contract to supply outage services for the Isar 2, Brokdorf and Grohnde nuclear power plants in Germany.

The facilities are located in Essenbach, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony, respectively.

"Thanks to this new contract, AREVA reinforces its position as a key partner for service activities for all German utilities. We are proud to contribute to the safe operation of nuclear power plants," Michael Cerruti, sales executive vice president of AREVA’s Reactors and Services Business Group, said. "This agreement reinforces a long-lasting cooperation with E.ON."

Under this contract, AREVA will perform in-service inspection of circuitry, maintenance, refueling activity, and reactor pressure vessel opening and closing.

The Isar 2 and Brokdorf plants have a generating net output of 1,410 megawatts each, and the Grohnde plant has a net output of 1,360 megawatts.

AREVA has global operations within multiple areas of the nuclear energy industry, including nuclear reactor and fuel-rod design, manufacture, maintenance and management services, as well as the manufacturing and design of nuclear reactor components. The company is based in Courbevoie, France.
