Entergy's Grand Gulf Nuclear Station celebrated 30 years of operation on Wednesday.
The company states that through operations at the facility, local municipalities have benefited from approximately $20 million in tax revenues on an annual basis and an additional $9 million is spent within the local and state economy through purchases of services, fuel and equipment.

The plant's generating capacity is listed at 1,440 megawatts of electricity following power upgrades that were completed in 2012. According to the announcement, the facility houses the largest boiling water reactor in the United States and it is the fifth largest globally.
The facility's license will last through 2024. The company has submitted an application for a 20-year extension with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Entergy operates approximately 30,000 megawatts of generating capacity across its fleet of power plants. Approximately one-third of this is in the form of nuclear generation operations.
