Entergy Corp. again a component of Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Entergy Corp. said on Monday that it is one of four electricity utility companies named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America.

Entergy said this is the 14th consecutive year that Entergy has been on the DJSI for North America, the global index or both. The indexes evaluate corporate performance in economic, environmental and social areas. Entergy said this recognition indicates its operations are efficient.

"This recognition affirms both our company values and employee commitment to excellence and sustainable business practices," Rod West, executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Entergy, said.

The company scored highly in many of the categories evaluated by the index, including scorecards and measurements, climate strategy, antitrust policy, corporate citizenship and philanthropy, and water-related risks. Overall, the DJSI evaluates companies using 25 criteria.

Entergy Corp. specializes in the generation and distribution of electricity, and across its generation fleet, the company has approximately 30,000 megawatts of generating capacity. Approximately one-third of this comes from the company's nuclear power plants. The company serves approximately 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, and employs approximately 13,000 workers.
