The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCI) and the Canada Korea Business Council (CKBC) entered into a strategic partnership agreement this week to promote increased cooperation between Korean and Canadian nuclear industry companies.
“The Republic of Korea is one of the world’s fastest growing nuclear markets and has been a nuclear partner of Canada’s for almost 40 years,”
OCI
President and CEO Ron Oberth said.
Under this agreement, both organizations will plan joint summits and other events to allow an open discussion on important issues relating to each country's nuclear industry. They will also take on trade and investment missions similar to previous efforts led by OCI, which resulted in approximately $10 million in near-term contracts and other agreements within research and development activity.
OCI consists of approximately 190 supplier companies in the nuclear industry that specialize in the manufacture of equipment and components, reactor design, and engineering and other support services.
The CKBC is a facilitation and catalyzing organization for business, trade and investments between Canadian and Korean companies. This partnership, according to
CKBC President and CEO
Sonny Cho, will allow the organizations to combine their specialties to strengthen connections between the two countries.
