Fennovoima announced Friday that its parent company, Voimaosakeyhtiö SF, has appointed Jussi Lehto as its new CEO.
Lehto will continue his service as CEO of Keravan Energia as well. Lehto is replacing Elina Engman at the company.
“Fennovoima’s nuclear power plant project is proceeding towards construction," Pertti Laukkanen, chairman of the board for Voimaosakeyhtiö, said. "Therefore it was decided that also Voimaosakeyhtiö SF, representing the Finnish owners of the project, need new leadership skills and resources. From now on the focus of Voimaosakeyhtiö will move from attracting new owners to supporting the progress of the project.”
The company was formed as a collective of Finnish companies and has been facilitating the construction of the Fennovoima nuclear power plant that is to be constructed in Pyhäjoki.
According to the company's website, the Fennovoima plant is anticipated to be completed and to begin its generation operations in 2024. The company also states that the facility will be able to provide temporary work to thousands of local workers during its construction.
This project aims to bring self-sufficiency in a generation to Finland.
