The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will conduct a meeting Sept. 17 regarding the Arkansas Nuclear One plant and its inspection that is due in early 2016.
This meeting will involve discussions between NRC personnel and officials from the nuclear plant owner, Entergy Nuclear. They will provide information on preparatory measures that they have taken or will be implementing to prepare for the 2016 NRC inspection, which will be performed by the three resident inspectors assigned to the site.
In June 2014, the NRC issued a yellow inspection finding resulting from a heavy equipment handling accident, and in 2015 another yellow finding was issued in response to an issue with flood protection at the plant. Combined, these findings have elevated the facility to the highest level of NRC oversight.
The meeting will be open to the public, and anyone may submit questions and comments following the main discussion. The 6 p.m. meeting will take place at the Lakepoint Conference Center on Lake Point Lane in Russellville, Arkansas.
