Dodson named Wolf Creek's senior resident inspector

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced Monday that Douglas Dodson has been selected to serve as the senior resident inspector at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Burlington, Kansas.

Dodson has worked with the NRC since 2007, and initially served as an engineer in the Office of New Reactors in Rockville, Maryland. He has been a part of the NRC's Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program and was a resident inspector at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant near Rochester, New York. and was a resident inspector and senior resident inspector at the Fitzpatrick and Hope Creek nuclear stations on a temporary basis.

He earned bachelor's degrees in religious studies and mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Missouri.

"Douglas Dodson's technical experience and regulatory perspective will assist the NRC In carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of Wolf Creek,” NRC Region IV Administrator Marc Dapas said.

Every nuclear reactor that is operating in a commercial capacity in the U.S. has a minimum of two NRC resident inspectors assigned to it. They take on all inspection, monitoring and evaluation activity and act as a point of contact between the facility, the NRC and the surrounding communities.

Fabian Thomas is the other resident inspector at the Wolf Creek facility.
