The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced Saturday that it has received a detailed report from Iran as a part of the roadmap agreement that was reached between both entities in July.
This report explains to the international agency outstanding issues of the past and current issues in the country's nuclear program.
The next phase of this process is the review of the Iranian report and a response to their explanations will be provided by the IAEA, which will also request additional information should this report contain troubling information or anything that is unclear.
Following this, the sides will bring technical experts together and implement necessary measures so that troubling findings or ambiguities are eliminated from the nuclear program.
The IAEA will serve as the primary agency for oversight on the nuclear program activity in Iran.
In line with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which was agreed upon in July, compliance allows some of the economic sanctions related to Iran's nuclear program to be lifted in exchange for the IAEA's monitoring of Iranian nuclear production to ensure Iran is engaged in exclusively peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The agreement was made between Iran, China, Russia, France, Germany, the U.S., the U.K. and the European Union.
