The Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) will be holding public hearings in Ord and Broken Bow on Wednesday, Aug. 26, to allow public input on a proposed Muddy Creek-to-Ord electric transmission line.
The project would entail the installation of a 115,000-volt transmission line and would connect a new power substation, Muddy Creek, near Broken Bow, to an existing transmission line near Ord. The NPPD estimates that the transmission line will be approximately 42 miles long and will aim to address loading and voltage issues in region. This line also would allow the electrical grid to meet the North American Electric Reliability Corp.'s standards.
Both hearings will consist of presentations by NPPD staff and public comments afterward. Before the formal hearing, an hour-long open house will take place. Those present at either meeting can voice concerns, questions or provide information by speaking directly at the podium or through comment cards that will be read aloud during the hearing. The meeting in Broken Bow will be from 1-3 p.m. CDT at the City Auditorium on 10th Avenue, and the Ord meeting will take place from 7-9 p.m. CDT in the Exhibit Hall of the Valley County Fairgrounds.
