CPV hires senior VP of external and regulatory affairs

Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) recently appointed Thomas Rumsey as its senior vice president for external and regulatory affairs.

Rumsey previously served as a senior vice president at New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) for five years. Before that, he spent 10 years in the  corporate power, nuclear and water divisions at General Electric.

"Tom brings a wealth of successful experience on both from the commercial and technical side while working for GE as well as the wholesale market and policy side of the energy industry with the NYISO," Gary Lambert, CPV president, said. "This potent combination that Tom brings to our team will be integral to achieving our ambitious expansion goals over the next few years."

At CPV, Rumsey will largely be responsible for assisting in the development of advocacy programs for policy that supports the industry and allows the company to grow in its operation.

Rumsey also served in the U.S. Army and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2013. He served as an aviation officer and in commanding roles for the 3rd Special Forces Group while they were deployed to Afghanistan in 2003.

He also holds a bachelor's degree in aeronautics from the University of North Dakota and an MBA from the University of Maryland at College Park.
