Fluor Corp. said on Wednesday that it has been awarded a five-year contract by Luminant Corp. to provide maintenance, engineering and other services at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, near Glen Rose, Texas.

The Comanche Peak facility is the only nuclear-generation station owned by Luminant. The plant has a capacity of 2,300 megawatts between its two nuclear reactor units.

This agreement is the latest in a long-standing relationship between the two corporations. Fluor has provided these services to other power plants owned by Luminant, and it services all of Luminant's fossil fuel-based plants.

“With a relationship history spanning more than 30 years, Luminant has selected Fluor to provide power services for the Comanche Peak nuclear plant,” Matthew McSorley, president of Fluor’s power unit, said. “The addition of this important nuclear asset to Fluor’s portfolio enables us to provide integrated solutions and services to Luminant’s generation system.”

Between 1991 and 2006, Fluor provided maintenance, modification and engineering services for the Comanche Peak plant.

"Fluor is an industry leader, providing execution excellence in maintenance and outage services to the power-generation market,” Jim Breland, vice president of Fluor’s power-maintenance division, said. “This significant award solidifies our footprint in the nuclear services industry.”
