AREVA announced on Wednesday that it has been awarded a contract to perform outage and other maintenance services for five nuclear plants in the U.S.

This contract is for three years and is representative of the company's Forward Alliance program, which facilitates client ability to combine advanced services and products offered by the company and combines them into an integrated plan to meet the individual needs of the plant or facility in question.

“This new agreement is testimony to AREVA’s expertise in providing services for all types of nuclear reactors, even when it is not the original equipment manufacturer,” Philippe Samama, senior executive vice president of AREVA's reactors and services business group, said.

Operations in the U.S. relating to this contract will begin in 2016, and while the specific plants were not made public, the company did state that it would be working with two boiling water reactors and six pressurized water reactors. As part of their duties within this agreement, the company will perform maintenance and inspection activity for reactor vessels, as well as internal components of the vessel; furthermore, they will work with steam generation units and refurbish coolant pump motors.

AREVA is a global group that specializes in multiple areas of the nuclear energy generation industry.
