AREVA celebrates expansion of CEDOS equipment facility in France

AREVA held an inauguration ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the expansion of the company’s CEDOS equipment maintenance and decontamination facility in Sully-sur-Loire, France.

The extension aims to improve the operational capacity of the facility in advance of a plan by Électricité de France(EDF) to modernize 1,300-megawatt reactors in France.

“The extension that we are inaugurating today helps our group meet the needs of our customers, in particular EDF, which has begun work on a major maintenance program for French power plants at its Paluel site," Nicolas Maes , executive vice president of AREVA's Installed Base Division, said. "It was vital for AREVA, a global leader in this area, to upgrade its facilities and make these services sustainable over the long term.”

The facility provides storage areas, as well as maintenance and decontamination for equipment and also facilitates staff training and equipment-qualification services.

AREVA invested approximately $16.63 million into the facility's expansion, and approximately 30 companies were involved in the 18-month construction project.

National and local officials attended the ceremony, including Sully-sur-Loire Mayor Jean-Luc Riglet and Parliament Member Claude de Ganay.

With the expansion, the facility now has 93,646 square feet of space, plus new cranes and an operational pool.
