Day and Zimmermann (D&Z) received a six-year contract with Southern Nuclear to provide nuclear fleet modifications and maintenance for six Southern Nuclear reactors, the companies said on Monday.
D&Z's Engineering, Construction and Maintenance (ECM) unit will be in charge of these services at the six reactors. These reactors are located at three plants: the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, near Waynesboro, Georgia; the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, near Baxley, Georgia; and the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, near Dothan, Alabama.
"We anticipate a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with Day & Zimmermann that will strategically position us for years of continued safe, reliable and cost-effective energy production," Dennis Madison, vice president of fleet operations for Southern Nuclear, said.
D&Z operates in more than 150 locations worldwide.
"This contract further demonstrates the confidence that the industry has in our ability to provide value through our maintenance services," Michael McMahon, president of D&Z's ECM unit, said. "We share Southern Nuclear's passionate commitment to the growth and excellence of nuclear power."
