AREVA, UK hold Paris gathering on decommissioning, waste management projects

AREVA said Wednesday that it partnered with U.K. Trade and Investment to hold a decommissioning and waste management supplier event in Paris.

"AREVA is keen to support the development of a skilled U.K. supply chain in decommissioning and waste management through its participation in projects such as the Silos Direct Encapsulation Plant project in addition to other future perspectives,” AREVA Senior Vice President Caroline Drevon said.

The event took place at the British Ambassador Sir Peter Ricketts' residence in Paris. It allowed participants from France and the U.K. to share their experiences and provide a platform for companies to engage each other and form potential partnerships and collaborations.

AREVA took the opportunity to present information relating to the company's supplier qualification process and also announced updates on current and planned projects.

“We hope that this event will lead to the creation of fruitful partnerships between the French companies already part of our supply chain and their U.K. counterparts to benefit our projects in the United Kingdom,” AREVA Vice President  Francis Hamelin said.

AREVA is a large French nuclear power company that is involved in the construction and design of nuclear reactors, operation and other services related to nuclear energy. The company employs approximately 45,000 people.
