The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) honored Exelon Generation employees on Thursday for their work in creating and implementing the Electronic Work Package (eWP), which allows workers to digitally create, manage, access and store work packages.
The team behind eWP won the B. Ralph Sylvia Best of the Best Top Industry Practice (TIP) Award, which was announced at the NEI’s annual meeting.
"Exelon's eWP increases productivity throughout project execution, and its electronic platform enables real-time engagement by all parties involved,” NEI's Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Tony Pietrangelo said. “It has fast proven to be far more effective than traditional protocols.”
The innovation replaces paper work packages with an efficient and user-friendly interface, allowing employees to create, access and supplement work package information, including multimedia content, from any company computer or tablet.
“The Nuclear Energy Institute is excited to recognize the dedicated Exelon professionals whose innovative thinking and hard work yielded this remarkable accomplishment, which is transferrable across the entire industry," Pietrangelo said.
Twelve other TIP winners were announced at the meeting, four for reactor vendors and eight for process innovations, including Dominion Nuclear, Ameren Missouri, Entergy, Pacific Gas & Electric, Duke Energy, Tennessee Valley Authority, American Electric Power and Entergy Generation.
