Jacobs Engineering Group recently was awarded a contract to provide project management and engineering resources at EDF Energy’s eight nuclear power stations and two technical centers in the United Kingdom.
As part of the agreement, Jacobs will support EDF Energy’s maintenance and life extension projects at 15 nuclear reactors across the Dungeness, Hartlepool, Heysham 1 and 2, Hinkley Point, Hunterston, Sizewell and Torness power stations, as well as the East Kilbride and Gloucester technical centers.
Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Duff said the company is delighted to continue supporting EDF Energy’s major program of nuclear power investment in the U.K.
“We look forward to contributing significant expertise, local knowledge and global resource to help deliver safe, robust solutions across these important assets,” Duff said.
Jacobs is already providing a wide range of services to the EDF Group for projects in the U.K., including technical and engineering services in support of EDF Energy’s U.K. Nuclear New Build program and environmental services in support of the 2000 megawatt Cottam and West Burton coal-fired stations.
The eight power stations in this new agreement have a combined capacity of almost 8.8 million kilowatts.
Although the value of the contract was not revealed, it is for five years with two optional two-year extensions.
