Snohomish County Public Utility District (Snohomish PUD) recently appointed Alstom to expand management systems by updating the existing Energy Management System (EMS) and installing an additional Outage Management System (OMS).
Snohomish PUD is the Pacific Northwest’s second biggest public utility and the nation’s twelth biggest: the PUD serves more than 335,000 consumers over a space of more than 2,200 square miles throughout the State of Washington.
“Snohomish PUD is
keeping pace with available technology for a modern, integrated
electricity grid by working with Alstom across our transmission and
distribution control rooms,” Chris Hiemgartner, assistant general
manager, distribution and engineering services at Snohomish PUD, said.
“A single software platform will enable ease of integration, more
efficient operator training and an overall lower cost of ownership.”
The updates and expansions are part of the new Smart Grid Program organized by Snohomish PUD. It will better distribute and manage energy, as it will reduce the cost of operations and maintenance as well as enhance the reliability of the company’s service.
