National Grid says new law will lower energy bills for its customers

National Grid said Friday that the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2015 will lead to lower energy bills for building owners, tenants and the federal government.

National Grid endorsed the legislation, which was signed into law on Thursday. The company said the cost-effective, bipartisan law will provide value to its customers and communities in New York and New England, but that more needs to be done on energy issues.

National Grid has worked closely with Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), authors of the legislation, on ways to advance energy efficiency strategies, especially in the senators’ roles as honorary co-chairs of the Alliance to Save Energy, of which National Grid is a board member.
