The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said yesterday it will meet with Global Nuclear Fuel–America Tuesday to review safety performance at the company’s commercial nuclear fuel fabrication plant.
The public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Madeline Suite of Wagoner Hall at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, 601 South College St.
The NRC staff concluded the company operated safely in 2013 and 2014. NRC Region II Administrator Victor McCree said Global and other nuclear fuel facilities are inspected regularly.
“Our inspection reports are publicly available and we also hold regular meetings like this one near each facility to discuss our oversight and answer local residents’ questions,” McCree said.
A copy of the company’s performance review letter is available on the NRC website, www.nrc.gov.
