Update about Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station

Officials recently reconnected the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS) to the regular grid.

The PLNGS was previously disconnected from the grid when it experienced a temporary outage on March 19, 2015. This outage was done so that the company could handle a few equipment maintenance issues.

PLNGS was officially reconnected to the regular grid at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2015.

PLNGS is a base-load contributor for the electrical grid in New Brunswick, Canada. The branch is a 660 megawatts nuclear generating station. The station provides electricity for countless homes throughout the region, and experts estimate that each year the state provides power for more than 333,000 homes. This station is instrumental to the foundation of the U.S. domestic energy supply as well as its export sales. It is a crucial part of the American economy’s growth for future generations.

PLNGS will continue to be a huge part of generating assets in the area. It will be part of the goal of providing 75 percent of the New Brunswick electricity from renewable, clean or non-emitting sources by the year 2020.
