Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff have scheduled public meetings for April 22 and 23 to discuss the potential environmental impact of the Turkey Point nuclear plant's proposal to add two reactors.

The public is invited to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Florida Power & Light’s application. The proposed site for the new reactors is 20 miles south of Miami.

The three meetings will be in an informal, open house format to enable the public, NRC staff and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials to freely discuss the application.

On April 22, a 7-10 p.m. meeting will be hosted by the Florida International University’s Stadium Club at 11200 SW Eighth St. in Miami.

On April 23, the NRC staff has scheduled meetings from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 2855 NE Ninth St. in Homestead, Florida.
