The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is hosting an open house April 21 in Ontario, New York, to review the safety performance of Exelon’s R.E. Ginna nuclear power plant.
The open house is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. at the Ontario Town Hall, 1850 Ridge Road. NRC staff will be available to talk about the plant’s 2014 performance and the agency’s oversight plans for 2015.
“By assessing each plant’s performance in a comprehensive manner, we are able to focus our inspection resources on those areas most in need of attention,” NRC Region I Administrator
Dan Dorman said. “Because Ginna did not have any safety or security issues rising above very low significance as of the conclusion of 2014, we are not currently planning any inspections above and beyond our normal reviews.”
Information about the open house and the NRC’s annual assessment letter and current performance information for the plant are on the agency’s website, www.nrc.gov.
