NV Energy accepting proposals for more planning capacity

NV Energy is now accepting proposals to obtain 54 megawatts of additional planning capacity in Nevada.

The proposals are part of NV Energy’s new Emissions Reduction and Capacity Replacement plan. The plan will reduce coal-fired generation by 812 megawatts by the year 2019.

There are specific proposals that the company seeks, such as construction of a gas-fired generating unit for  54 megawatts to 68 megawatts. Another possible proposal would be a build-transfer option for a gas-fired generating unit that will provide 54 megwatts to 68 megawatts, or a build-transfer for a single axis tracking solar photovoltaic facility that will provide 140 megawatts of power.

The company is also seeking any alternative proposals that will enable NV Energy to purchase or partner with a renewable energy resource that is powerful enough to handle the outstanding 54 megawatts.

The NV Energy bidders’ conference and webinar will be held at 9:30 a.m. (PPT) on April 13. Locations will be available in both southern and northern Nevada.
