Westinghouse, 2 HOCHTIEF subsidiaries form partnership

Westinghouse Electric Company, HOCHTIEF Infrastructure GmbH and HOCHTIEF Engineering GmbH have signed a partnership agreement, Westinghouse said on Thursday.

The trio will offer integrated decommissioning, decontamination and remediation services for nuclear power plants.

The companies will provide a broad range of integrated services to meet the needs of nuclear plants that are coming off-line.

“This teaming agreement will bring together an excellent combination of safe, reliable and proven decommissioning, decontamination and remediation services, as well as a broad experience from the civil and construction sector that ultimately will contribute to our customers' success," Norbert Haspel, Westinghouse's vice president and managing director for Central Europe, said.

HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and HOCHTIEF Engineering offer knowledge in licensing, civil engineering and construction of interim storage sites.

“The engineering competence in the field of nuclear structures built up during half a century will be brought to the team by HOCHTIEF Engineering GmbH and supplemented by our strong and state-of-the-art abilities in building information modeling," Hansgeorg Balthaus, managing director of HOCHTIEF Engineering, said.

"With decades of construction experience in the field of nuclear energy, we are excellently positioned for safe and sustainable decommissioning of nuclear facilities," Jorg Laue, chief financial officer for HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, said. "We are looking forward to partnership-based cooperation."
