AREVA INC. has been granted a multi-million dollar contract to develop and deliver a replacement reactor vessel head for a U.S. utility; as part of the agreement, AREVA will also provide the utility with control rod drive mechanisms.
The contracted equipment is being designed and manufactured by the AREVA teams in Lynchburg, Va., and in French facilities located in Saint-Marcel, Le Creusot and Jeumont. The completed equipment will be delivered to the U.S. in the spring of 2018.
As a part of AREVA’s “Forward Alliance” program, these replacement parts will help reinforce the safe, long-term operation of nuclear energy facilities.
“This contract testifies to the confidence of our customers and to AREVA’s expertise in equipment design and manufacturing," Michael Cerruti, sales executive vice-president of AREVA’s Reactors & Services Business Group, said. "This consolidates our position as a leader in the component replacement market.”
