Russian atomic energy corporation Rosatom presented the first popular science book on atomic energy in Bangla on Feb. 26 at Bangla Academy’s Ekushey Book Fair.
Rosatom Representative Philipp Kovos and Director General of the Nuclear Energy Information Center and Novo Theatre Arshad Hossain, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and the Russian Federation Embassy,
presented the book to Dhaka schools teachers.
The book contains basic facts and answers to 30 frequently asked questions about nuclear power, operation of nuclear power stations and safety and ecological friendliness. The book also includes photographs of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel and other relevant subjects geared towards educating the people of Bangladesh and Rooppur about the fundamentals of nuclear energy.
“We are stepping into the future of our country, the world of nuclear energy and we need to educate our people about its latest and safest technologies. This event became first in this direction and it is important, that we addressed not only Dhaka population in our effort, but local community as well”, Project Director of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project Shawkat Akbar
said.
The book will be available at the Ekushey Book Fair at the Anondo Alo Stall, No 275,). The rest of the print run will be distributed free of charge to the headmasters of schools in the Ishwardi area, Pabna district, where the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be built.
