Fluor Corp. said this week that Westinghouse Electric Co. has contracted it to manage the construction workforce at two nuclear plant projects with AP1000 nuclear reactors in Georgia and South Carolina in deals worth approximately $5 billion altogether.
The construction projects consist of oversight on the Vogtle Nuclear Plant expansion near Waynesboro, Georgia, as well as the addition of two nuclear reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Through this agreement, Fluor is assisting Westinghouse with transition of services, as well as the responsibilities and makeup of field staff.
The Vogtle expansion
also includes two nuclear reactors and is primarily owned by Georgia
Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, and the V.C. Summer Facility is
primarily owned and operated by SCANA/Santee Cooper.
