Westinghouse Electric Co. LLC said on Tuesday that it has added products that will enhance its support services for boiling-water reactors (BWR).

The products that have been added to the support services of the company include the DASie data acquisition system, which can collect and catalog event data at a nuclear facility. Through this system, the company said BWR personnel have access to manufacturer control systems and instrumentation.

The company also has purchased TREK from C3-ilex,LLC. The system consists of monitoring activity and can support plant-event management, perform visualizations of alerts and process calculations. Associated experts for both product additions have been hired by Westinghouse to offer support for BWR clients.

“Operating nuclear power plants are built to last, and this purchase demonstrates our commitment to support them,” David Howell, Westinghouse’s senior vice president for its Operating Plants Business, said. “Whether through our Long-Term Asset Management Program or system replacement, Westinghouse continues to invest in components and systems critical to the operational excellence of these safe and valuable energy-generating assets.”

Westinghouse Electric Co. focuses on the development and manufacturing of nuclear reactors and associated components. It is a group company under Toshiba Corp.
