Westinghouse Electric Co. celebrated the 130th anniversary of the company’s founding late last week.

The company is focused on the energy industry and in nuclear-generation technology. Among the company’s technological developments is the AP1000 nuclear reactor design and enhanced decontamination and decommissioning services.

“It’s an honor to lead Westinghouse Electric Company,” Danny Roderick, president and CEO of Westinghouse, said. “We are building upon George Westinghouse’s legacy of global innovation by providing clean-energy products and delivering on the promise to be the first to innovate the next.”

The company is currently involved in several construction projects of nuclear reactors, including the expansion of the Vogtle and V.C. Summer nuclear power plants in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively. Combined, both facilities are adding four new nuclear reactors.

The company recently acquired CB&I’s Stone & Webster and have incorporated that as WECTEC, which will be focused on nuclear construction and related services, a recent Power News Wire article said.

The company also said it has achieved a milestone in small modular reactor (SMR) development through its facility in Salwick, England.

The company was founded on Jan. 8, 1886.
