The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp. (ENEC) recently honored 64 graduates from nuclear energy programs at several schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and overseas.

The graduates were part of the UAE’s Energy Pioneers program, which was launched to develop qualified UAE citizens to operate the nation’s nuclear energy program. Institutions represented in the celebration included Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Khalifa University, Pennsylvania State University, North Carolina State University and Texas A&M University.

“Developing a highly skilled Emirati workforce to lead the UAE’s pioneering nuclear energy program has been a priority from the very beginning,” ENEC CEO Mohamed Al Hammadi said. “Nuclear energy professionals require specific engineering and scientific capabilities, an unswerving commitment to safety and quality, and extensive training — not only to gain their qualifications, but throughout their entire careers,”

Of the 64 students recognized, six of them earned master’s degrees, 25 earned bachelor’s degrees and 33 students earned higher diploma nuclear technology (HDNT) degrees.

Through the Energy Pioneers Program, ENEC also offers scholarships and specialized courses.
