Results from the 2015 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey showed that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) remains a top place to work.

The survey is conducted annually by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The NRC tied for third place this year for global satisfaction at 74 percent among large agencies that employ more than 800 people. The average score across the federal government was 60 percent. Global satisfaction refers to employee satisfaction with their work, salary and the organization that they work for.

“The NRC continues to be a great place to work, even in these challenging times,” NRC Chairman Stephen Burns said. “An engaged and satisfied workforce is the NRC’s greatest asset in achieving its mission to protect public health and the environment in regulating the nuclear industry.”

The NRC remained constant or improved in all areas of this year’s survey compared to 2014 results. Approximately 75 percent of NRC employees participated in the survey, compared to the overall governmental participation, which was 50 percent.

In the area of employee engagement, the NRC placed fifth with a score of 75 percent. The overall government was rated at 64 percent in this area.
