Officials from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will meet with officials from Energy Northwest to discuss recent
emergency response procedure violations of the Columbia Generating Station.
The plant, which is located near Richland, Washington, has been found to not have an outlined plan for the public to find shelter in case of an emergency. There must be a sheltering in place plan where the public can be sent to offsite authorities in case of a nuclear emergency.
Because of this deficiency, the inspection has flagged the Columbia Generating Stations with a moderate safety significant, meaning that the station may need additional regulator actions, inspections and oversight throughout 2015.
Officials from Columbia Generating Station report they have solved these problems and added active measures to prevent any chance of these problems recurring.
